The lore: Badminton is one of India's most beloved sports — but the shuttlecock itself has a history far older than the modern game. Versions of shuttlecock were played in ancient China, Greece, and India over 2,000 years ago, originally made from feathers and a small weighted base, used in games of coordination and agility. In 19th century Britain it became a formal sport, named after Badminton House in Gloucestershire. In India, it became something more — a sport of champions, of early mornings, of concrete courts and fierce rallies.
